Cataract Treatment / Surgery

Cataracts are a common eye condition characterized by the clouding of the lens, leading to blurry or foggy vision. This condition typically develops with age but can also be caused by factors like genetics, trauma, or certain medical conditions like diabetes. As cataracts progress, they can significantly impair vision, making daily activities such as reading, driving, or watching TV challenging. When cataracts begin to interfere with an individual's quality of life and vision, surgery becomes necessary to restore clear vision and improve overall eye health.

Cataract surgery is a relatively quick and safe procedure performed by an ophthalmologist. During the surgery, the cloudy lens is removed and replaced with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL). The procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia, and most patients experience minimal discomfort. The advantages of cataract surgery are manifold, including improved vision clarity, enhanced color perception, and a reduced dependence on glasses or contact lenses. Additionally, cataract surgery can significantly improve an individual's quality of life by allowing them to resume normal activities with greater ease and confidence.
